I still remember his eyes glowing from the sun that was shining above us.There was then a sudden change of weather and the sky started filling up with dark clouds.I felt cold raindrops on my bear skin. We started jogging along the main road. I couldn’t see because the rain was heavy and the darkness had filled every space.

The next thing I could hear was his moans. He was lying on the road unconsciously and blood was covering his face. I cried out for help but no-one was there beside the two of us. ‘ I haven’t even noticed the bakkie that had just ran on him’ I cried at the thought because I knew that his parents would put the blame on me afterall they didn’t approve of our relationship. I took my phone from my jeans’ pocket and started dialling the police number. Unfortunately there was no signal at the area . I cried begging for him to wake up.

When a Suzuki pulled back after passing by I had already lost hope and stopped crying. Suicidal thoughts were racing through my mind. There was a rich looking young lady at the car. I looked at her puzzled. She got out of the car and stretched her arm”Austria” she said that in a coloured accent. I stretched my arm to meet hers and said “Keketso, I’m her girlfriend will you please help us to get to the hospital” I said with a shaking voice. She said okay and we carried him to the backsit of the car and we drove to the hospital. We were silent all the way and I was only making silent prayers.

When we arrived at the hospital we are told to wait at the reception. Then the police came with Ray’s parents.I didn’t even know who told them about the accident. His mother angrily looked at me.She blamed me for every bad thing that had happened in her son’s life. She then ordered me to leave and told me that I was not allowed to see his son again.
