“Ma’am, there is no sign of any forced entry or break in,” said the annoyed cop, as he adjusted his belt and left the premises.

Emily decided to call over her trusted friend, Melissa. She left a voicemail.

“Hi Melissa. I’m not feeling too good. Maybe we can have dinner this evening?”

Melissa arrived and found a frazzled Emily at the door. “Emily…” said Melissa with horror and shock in her eyes. “What are you doing in this house?” asked Melissa softly, as she stared at Emily in complete shock.”Come in,” said Emily, as she ushered Melissa to the pool area for drinks and freshly sliced fruits.

“I’m awaiting Jimmy’s arrival, then we can discuss this issue,” she said while trying to gather her sanity. Melissa stared at the house with disgust, while her vision returned back to Emily, in disbelief.”Jimmy is not coming, Emily,” replied Melissa. “Jimmy is dead.””What?” cried Emily.”What did you just say?” defeated Emily, threw herself to the ground.”Jimmy hung himself, a year ago. He suffered from severe depression. He wanted a divorce but you wouldn’t give him that! You came here to finish your treatment. Not in this house, You were supposed to check in at the psychiatric home,” said Melissa”If I’m crazy, then what about the girl in the pool?” asked Emily, whilst holding her sanity together.”The giggling girl with the raven black hair in the water?” she pointed to the pool. “What about her?”

“Edith…” whispered Melissa as she looked towards the pool.”E…Edith?” said Emily as she stared at her reflection in the patio doorShe started to recall those reminiscent giggles and the raven black hair and how Edith held her hand everytime she feared something.Yes, said Melissa hopeful. Edith your twin sister. Do you recall your memories now?””Yes, yes, yes. I do,” cried Emily as she had finally pieced a missing piece of her puzzle. She happily wiped the tears from her eyes, let out a joyful smile and heavy of relief as she finally made a breakthrough.Where is Edith now? she excitedly asked Melissa stared at Emily raising her eyebrow and pity in her eyes. “Emily, Edith is dead…” she said.’I don’t believe what you’re saying,” yelled Emily, as she tried to hold back her tears, she shut her ears to the dark truth.”You didn’t mean to drown your twin sister. It was an accident,” blabbed Melissa”It was me?” cried Emily.”While you were playing hide and seek, Edith slipped into the pool, knocked her head and drowned,” answered Melissa while Emily incessantly sobbed, rocked back and forth and cupped her ears from the truth.”You’re lying,” argued Emily.”Let go of all the hurt and pain within yourself. It wasn’t your fault, Emily,” said Melissa, as she tried to calm her down. Emily remained haunted by the ghosts of her past, she eyed the knife, not far from her reach placed next to the sliced fruits.”I will kill you, if you say one more word…” she threatened Melissa, as she grabbed ahold of the knife.”Put down the knife, Emily. Come, we need to leave this house,” said Melissa, as she attempted to move closer to Emily to reach out for her hand. This house has possessed you,” said Emily, as she charged towards Melissa, ready to kill.Melissa, lifted her arms in front of her, for protection and catapulted Emily to the back. The nudge wasn’t fierce but due to the wet surrounding of the pool, Emily lost her footing, she misstepped and fell into the murky pool water. There was no air bubbles on the surface, there was no movement in the water. The water was still. Emily fatally knocked her head on the step on the pool. Her body rose up and floated above its surface. The gruesome sight was reminiscent of the death of her twin sister.
