The sun shone brightly across the village of Chihota Marondera. It’s early and Makanaka is taking her bath getting ready for her trip . She Hardly slept last night , because she was feeling too excited and you know what happens when you too excited at night , you find it hard to sleep.
Wrapping herself up in a towel , Maka walked back to the hut . She sat down on the sofa and applied Petroleum Vaseline on her face going down to her legs .
She wore her traditional attire together with its doek . She loves that attire so much , she hand sew it for herself the moment she fell in love with the material when she first laid her eyes on them at the market .
She shaped her eyebrows then brushed them straight , she also applied some mascara on her eyelashes making them stand out more . She also wore her round eye ring that Amina had beaded for her.
She now looked at herself infront of the mirror posing in different positions . She smiled to herself everytime she changed positions letting her dimples show .
Gogo stood behind her ululating at how beautiful She looked . Maka smiled and shook her head , Gogo always knew how to bost Maka’s confidence and to make her feel shy.
” Gogo is still early in the morning ” she said trying to hold her smile back .l
” Yes it’s still early yet you look like this ” Gogo said crossing her hands together against her breast .
” I am going somewhere remember “
” You look neat , my child “
” Thank you gogo “
” You stitched this dress so well “
” What can I say , I got the talent “
” I wonder from where “

” constable , you won’t believe it , yesterday my wife said I should take another wife ” Manyika said ,putting his cup of coffee down .
” Huh ! ” Exclaimed Constable Chiware .
” She told me that yesterday when i refused to eat ,and roughly answered her “
” Was she anger when she told you that “
” No , she was calm like she always is “
” Then get yourself another wife “
” What are you saying “
” I am saying Get yourself another wife ,hant your wife is giving you the approval of marrying another wife so do it “
” No ,why would she say so “
” Manyika do you want kids or not “
” I do want them but with her “
” How can you want to have kids with someone who cannot have kids huh it’s like wanting water from a tap that is empty “
” That is harsh Constable ,you going far “
” Iwe did I ask you why your wife wants you to have another wife , did I , am I the one who told you about it , Saka “
” I just don’t understand what woman would allow it “
” Even me , I don’t understand what woman would allow it but maybe she feels sorry for you and besides your child will be her child too so maybe that’s why she is allowing you to Mary another woman “
” Serious “
” I don’t know , make your own decisions . It’s your choice if you want to stay fatherless or you will take the opportunity to marry a woman who can bear you kids “
Manyika made no response , asking Constable for advice is like asking your mother for advice , they will give you the best advice but yet in the most truthful way .
Manyika and Constable Chiware have been friends ever since he married Grace and that was 6 years ago . Constable have always been a amiable person who communicates with his colleagues very nice and that is how Officer Manyika and Constable Chiware become close friends .

Maka hugged her grandmother goodbye and got inside the taxi .
Arriving at the airport , Maka’s heart skipped a beat as she scrutinized around . It was her first time at the airport , everything was just new to her , well not new but they looked exactly not really but they looked like the ones she saw in the TVs well that was when electricity was not an issue in Zimbabwe .
Zimbabwe started to fall , the day Mugabe chased all whites out of Zimbabwe . Some would say he was right while other argued that he was crazy . But the real reason he did was because some whites ware still racist towards the blacks . If you ware black and passed their yard they would shoot you with their guns thinking that you are a thief . That is why Mugabe got angry and chased them all away . Now majority feel that if they ware not chased away , Zimbabwe would have probably be the most developed country compared to SA . But why blacks have to depend on Whites ?
She let that question go as a rhetorical question because the answer is clear .
She handed her passport to a lady who looked through it and gave her big bright smile .
Maka returned the smile and made her way to the plane .

Wiping her tears Gogo held the photo against her chest . It’s going to take her a very long time to adjust to the new life . She is going to have a new friend and everything is going to change .
