Melokuhle

When the maid walked in I was already awake, she placed a yoghurt on the side of the bed and gave me some pills “They will help with the swelling.” She nodded “I made you a yoghurt figuring that nothing solid can pass by your swollen throat.” She left as fast as she came.

I took the pills and took the two pills that were on the tray and downed them with the orange juice.

I took the yoghurt and quickly ate it and went back to lie back on the bed.

With not know how much had passed, I stayed there on the bed, sometimes I looked out the window, it was my favourite place, it felt like I was out there as well.

I never saw Melusi ever since last night, I almost thought that he would come by to apologise but he didn’t, I was not even sure if he even had regrets about what he did.

Or maybe that’s just how he was, a cruel man who laid hands on woman.

The maid came back later to tell me to be ready by 6 p.m as I’m not going to eat dinner here.

I put one of the sweatpants that I was given and a tank top.

I let the maid lead me to the dining table. The table had all different kinds of food that could feed an entire village.

Melusi was already there at the head of the table, the maid instructed me to sit down at the other end and left us alone.

Not knowing what to do I sat there with my hands on my lap, Melusi looked at me not dishing up for himself and nodded as if to tell me to go ahead.

With my throat no longer swollen I made sure to dish for myself spaghetti and a glass of wine when I was done he dished up for himself chicken thigh and ate.

I slowly ate, not knowing what to think of all of this, or was this his way of apologising.

“Are you better? I mean your throat.”

His voice startled me, I looked up from my plate and found him already looking at me. I nodded “The pills helped, thanks.”

Thanks? Was I crazy? Why did I thank him, or maybe I was indeed crazy. Why did I have to thank him.

He nodded and got up and walked away, leaving me to finish up. I breathed out a sigh of relief when I was alone and quickly finished up and walked into the way of my room.

I was still looking for the perfect time to run away, maybe when that time comes by I will be able to run away.
