Melokuhle

I want to pull away from his arms but I can’t bring myself to, instead I hold on to him tightly as my tears soak in his shirt.

I let out, all the tears that I have been holding back for the past 2 months trying to be strong, Melusi holds me tightly not caring that I am destroying his shirt with my tears and mascara.

He wipes my tears away and kisses my forehead “I’m sorry.” He said under his breath. “Are you hungry?” He doesn’t wait for me to answer before he says “Come, let’s go downstairs.” He said taking my hand.

I hold his hand back, Melusi looks down at my hand in surprise and then lifts his eyes at me. He knows as much as I do that this my way of letting him know that I am less mad and that I am starting to open up to him.

“Sit down.” he said when we enter the kitchen. I did as I was told and sat down and watched him as he moved around the kitchen reminding me that night he gave me a hot chocolate sprinkled with nuts and I got sick.

He look so out of place in the kitchen with his big muscles and his tailored suit.

“I thought you got rid of this house.”

Melusi looked at me over his shoulder, “I didn’t.” He said turning back to the stove.

“Why?” I asked out of curiosity.

“Because this is the house I fell in love with you,”

“Oh,” I said leaning back on the chair, who knew that Melusi is such a sentimental person.

He place the hot plate of Macaroni and cheese on the table and the dish cloth on the sink. “I know I messed up everything and I will forever beat myself up for it.” He said.

He places his hands on the table, my breath catches on my throat when my eyes lock on the ring bestowed on his finger “You didn’t take it off.”

He looks down on his finger and nods “I couldn’t take it off because then it would mean that I was accepting that it was over between us, please give me one more chance, I promise you that I will not hurt you again, I will treat you like a princess that you are.”

“You better.” said a voice behind me, making me startle. I turned around and saw Lizzie walking over towards me.

“What are you doing here, Lizzie?” Melusi asked.

“To see if you had set Melokuhle free.” She said embracing me in a tight hug. “Oh please forgive him for what he did to you, I never thought that he will turn to kidnapping you, again.” She said sitting down “Boy make me tea.”

I smiled as I looked at Melusi sigh but not once did he protest as he went to make tea.

“Can I just say, I never liked the Zandile woman.” She said sipping her tea “I know that Melusi can be an idiot sometimes but what I know is that the boy misses you, he stayed outside on the patio refusing to do anything but just look at your picture day in, day out.”

“Lizzie.” Melusi shouted in utter disbelief, as if he could not believe that Lizzie just said that.

“Oh he missed you a lot, he almost lost his businesses, I tell you.”

I looked at Melusi now looking at him deeply in his eyes and I can see it, the pain that Lizzie had been talking about, making my heart stir.
