Melusi
“You did what!” Lizzie shouts over the phone almost bursting my eardrum.
“I mean you advised me that… “
“Shut up boy, you are stupid you know that?,” She said, there are not so many who can call me stupid and still be able breath.
Lizzie doesn’t care that I am now a guy that is so respected and feared out on the street, I know if she were here she would have pulled me by my ear and knocked some sense on my head.
“Where is she now?”
“Upstairs.”
I heard her sigh, probably also shaking her head “You are one stupid boy, now go and talk to your woman, go and hear how she feels about you and untie her, for goodness sake.”
“Okay.” I said as soon as the conversation ended, I don’t usually get nervous but my hands are now sweaty as I climb the stairs, one at a time, buying me sometime to breath and calm my racing heart.
I knocked on the door just like I expected I didn’t get a response so I opened the door and crossed to the other side of the room and went to Melokuhle and snipped the ropes with a scissors and stepped back a little.
She didn’t look at me as she massaged her hands.
“If I told you that I can’t function without you, would you believe me?” I asked leaning against the wall with my leg.
“I would say you are one good for nothing liar because here you are, doing just fine.” She said turning her head away.
I stuffed my hands in my pockets, keeping them from fiddling too much “I…”
Melokuhle surprised me by standing up and came over to me “I would say you are a cheating bastard,” She said poking at my chest with her finger “I would say, you didn’t care about our vows, about me,” she said continuing to poke me”I would fucking say you caused me anxiety and lowered my self esteem.” poke, poke, poke.
She started rapidly beating my chest “You wanna know what I would have said? I would have said that you gave up on me,” Tears were now streaming down her cheeks and I knew that my chest will have so many bruises after this but I didn’t stop her.
“You didn’t call me, you didn’t come back for me, you did…” Her beating got weaker and weaker and I pulled her in my arms “you did nothing to get me back.” She said softly, in a broken voice.
I held her tightly not wanting to let her go, refusing to let her go this is where she belongs, in my arms.
