Melusi



I have to see her or at least hold her hand. I stood on my wall and waited for her and then I heard the shuffling of feet and Melokuhle’s little giggles making me smile.

“Melusi?”

“I’m here.” I reached out my hand to her she took my hand in hers. her hand is soft and delicate like her.

“Having any doubts?” I asked rubbing circles on the back of her hand with my thumb. “No, you?”

“Never.”

“Good, because you are stuck with me Melusi Xaba.”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way, I want to be stuck with you and your moods.”

She squeezed my hand a little bit tighter “These damn hormones will make me ruin my make up. Let’s do this.”

“Yes let’s do this.”

I went back to the toilet ro fix my make up a little and applied a little bit of a lip gloss.

“Are you ready?” My father asked as he walked inside the toilets. I nodded as I looked at him.

“Come.” He held my hand and walked out, I met with my mother outside who also held my other hand.

The reception looked amazing with pink flowers and flower petals, it is ordinary but I love it, I have to see the person who did this whole thing because wow.

I looked around and there is the staff members of the vineyard all looking at me with adoring smiles and Lizzie is amongst them.

I smiled in her direction and she smiled back. I turned my eyes to Melusi who looks handsome in his black and gold suit.

“Hi.” I said as I stood facing him. “Hi.”

“We are gathered here because,” The pastor carried on and on and on but I tuned him out as I watched Melusi, a pang of nervousness hit me as the memories came back, of maybe history will repeat itself.

Melusi noticed my shift in mood, he took my hand “Hey,” He said under his breath so as to not disturb the pastor. “I love you okay.”

I nodded, all the thoughts I had earlier disappeared I guess now is the time to take a leap of faith and hope only for the best.

“Vows?”

Melusi nodded “I have been an idiot, Lizzie is here to confirm that, she reminds me every chance she gets,”

“Oh I do.” Lizzie said making everyone else to laugh.

“I don’t know how I was an idiot to want to hurt you. I love you Melokuhle with all of my heart, you have shown me that I can love and that love exists. You have made me to be a better a man, to want to look beyond the present moment and I thank you for that. I thank you for loving me and for allowing me to love you and I promise that I will show you how much you mean to me each and every single day of your entire love I promise you Melokuhle. ” I love you he mouthed to me.

I dabbed the tears with my finger and smiled “Oh you are one of the kind Melusi, you are selfish and sometimes arrogant and at time I want to strangle you but that doesn’t change how much I love you, how much you have molded me into a thick skin and how you have destroyed me but you have always managed to stitch me back together again. I love that about you Melusi. I love how I can hate you one minute and want you the next. I doubt I will ever love anyone as much as I love you Melusi and I never want to love anyone else.”

Melusi pulled towards me winding the air out of my lungs as he kissed.

“You were suppose to wait for me, oh never mind.”

I giggled as I deepened the kiss not wanting to let go.
