I chug down my drink down my throat the burning sensation on my throat calming down my nerves, I still don’t like the strong taste of whiskey but at other times it helps.

It is crazy how lonely I feel without Melokuhle here even though she has been gone for an hour, however it feels like an eternity. It is like I can’t function without her. I tried working but I lost focus so fast that I ended up just staring at the pile of papers on the table.

I walked out of my office and went into the kitchen when I heard the kitchen door open, I walked over to Melokuhle and pulled her towards me and slammed my lips on hers.

“I talked to my father.” She said placing the car keys on the table.

“And?”

“He agreed to back off especially when he learnt that he is going to be a grandfather.”

“At long last he can get off my, wait, what did you say?” The news hit me so hard that I staggered a bit, I looked at her in disbelief but the smile plastered on her lips confirmed everything.

She is really pregnant, Melokuhle is carrying my heir, a Xaba heir.

I smirked as I thought of what kind of a father will I be, I can’t wait to find out. Lizzie will be excited, maybe even more excited than I am right now, she has always been pressuring me about having kids and all that talk that I am now getting old.

If 5 years ago, you would have told me that I would have a kid or a wife I would have told you that you are lying.

I never thought that I would ever have someone in my life let alone a wife. I always thought that I am destined to be alone and have no one, now I even wonder how I had managed to live my life without Melokuhle in it, she makes everything better.

“We are pregnant.” I said as I walked over towards her and held her stomach, it is not yet showing but the fact that I will be a dad makes me to be happy. I never thought I will ever be a father but now being presented with this idea makes me happy even better now that I am having a baby with the woman that I am in love with.

“Yes, we are having a baby, I found out last month that I am pregnant.” She said looking down on her stomach.” I lifted her up and spun her around.

“I am going to be father. ” I said out loud, not believing it. Goosebumps ran all over my body as I thought of how fragile she or he will be in my arms, depending on me to protect him or her all the time.

I cupped Melokuhle’s face in my hands and kissed her, “Thank you.” at least the Xaba surname will not die with me.
