Melusi

As we were leaving, Melokuhle noticed that Zandile had left her phone behind. Annoyed, I agreed to return it to her. After kissing goodnight to Melokuhle, I made my way to Zandile’s lodge. Each step filled me with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty.

When Zandile opened the door, she was dressed in sweatpants and a baggy t-shirt, looking casual and relaxed. Memories of our time together flooded my mind. Her appearance was a far cry from the elegant outfit she wore earlier.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, arms crossed, scrutinizing me. “Haven’t you said enough at dinner?”

“Was I wrong?” I asked, vulnerable yet firm. “Everything I said was true.”

She looked at me, seemingly without an immediate response, her eyes filled with intensity. “What do you want, Melusi?” she asked bitterly, as if she was still coming to terms with my marriage.

A smile tugged at my lips as I leaned against the door. “I came to see you,” I whispered, longing evident in my voice. Zandile rolled her eyes, seemingly unfazed by my words. “You must have mistaken me for someone else,” she replied, bitterness lingering in her tone.

“Let me be clear: you’ve been on my mind every waking moment.” I stepped closer to her, closing the distance. “Tell me,” I murmured earnestly. “What do I need to do to stop thinking about you?”

Zandile inhaled sharply, our proximity leaving no room for anything but our charged connection. Her innocent gaze locked with mine, stirring conflicting emotions within me. As her tongue moistened her lips, my eyes fixated on the subtle movement. “I…” she began, seemingly captivated by our magnetic pull. “You’ve been on my mind too,” she finally confessed, her voice heavy with admission.

“Then let’s do something about it,” I proposed, rational thoughts fading away. With a single gesture, I pulled her closer, my hand finding her waist. Leaning in, I kissed her, savoring the familiar softness of her lips. Her scent enveloped me, sweet like honey with a hint of salt and vinegar snacks she had been eating moments before I arrived.

Carrying her to the bed, I took my time, savoring each moment as I undressed her. It felt like I had been waiting for this moment since the day she walked away from me five years ago.

In an instant, everything fell into place, as if the puzzle of my life had found its missing piece. Within seconds, I crossed a line I never intended to cross, falling deeper into the intoxicating allure of our undeniable connection that we could no longer hide.
