Melusi

I looked at Melokuhle as she put on her lotion getting ready for bed. There was no better way of doing this.

I want the day I asked her to be perfect but when has our life been perfect? I gathered the only courage I was left with and walked to her, when she saw me she smiled and I just knew that I had to do it.

I bent on one and took her hand in mine, she laughed “What are you doing.”

“I love you.” I started “You are the woman I see myself spending the rest of my life with, I want to be able to wake up next to you in both bad and good days. in such a short space amount of time you have made me to be such a whole different person. You have shown me love that I never in my life thought I deserved. Will you marry me Melokuhle?”

She looked at me, full of shock. She looked at the ring and back at me as if she was waiting for me to tell her that it was just a joke. “Are you serious.” She asked as her eyes started to water “You want to marry me?” I smiled as I wiped her fallen tear “Like a heart attack.”

She threw her arms at me and hugged me real tight and nodded furiously at my shoulder making me to smile a whole lot more “Yes.” She said looking at me and clasped her hands on my face “Yes Yes a billion times.” She said as she kissed me “I’ll be your wife.”

For the first time my hands started to shake not realising how nervous I was as I placed the ring on her finger. She looked at her hand with a huge smile on her face “It’s beautiful.” She said.

“But not the best, I should have picked a ring with more diamonds.”

She shook her head “I don’t care whether it has 2 diamonds or none at all, as long as it comes from you the rest doesn’t matter.”

She flashed her hand on her face and smiled “How do I look? I think this is how I’ll be greeting people from now on.” She said laughing.

“You look amazing.” I said as I planted my lips unto hers.
