Melusi

I was never a fan of strong alcohol but today I poured myself some vodka and sat down on the couch.

The house suddenly felt so lonely without her here.

I thought that I would see her waltzing around the entire place only not to see her.

Her room smelt like her, which made me to miss her even more, wanting me to hold her in my arms.

I poured another glass of vodka and drank it one go, welcoming the burning feeling. Hoping that it would wash away all the sadness I felt deep inside.

I could not even watch her as she walked away from me.

“You going to drink all day?” Lizzie asked as she placed braai’d meat on the table.

I shrugged and continued to pour another glass.

“You miss her?” She asked with that knowing look.

I growled “I hate what I’m feeling.” She kept quiet and waited for me to carry on. “She’s, she’s messing with my mind. She’s all over my mind.”

Lizzie smiled “And I believe that’s what’s called love.”

“And now she’s gone.” I stated in a defeated tone.

“You are Melusi Xaba, go get your woman.” She encouraged as she tapped on my shoulder.
