When my birthday came, there was a little excitement that was buzzing inside me. Butterflies were flipping around my stomach causing me to have goosebumps.

It had been over a decaded since I last celebrated my birthday.

When I was taken to the visitors area I could not believe my eyes, Samantha was there but another thing that caught my eye was a birthday cake on the table.

Tears flooded my eyes, I will be eating a cake for the first time in over 10 years, I looked at Samantha not knowing what to say except thank you.

“Happy birthday.” Samantha said rushing over to hug me, she smelt so sweet like honey. I wanted to wrap my arms around her, squeeze her tight but I couldn’t so instead I buried my head on her neck.

“Thank you.” I mumbled.

“You have blow out your candles and make a wish.” She said when we sat down.

I nodded as I looked the candles which were numbers, my age, 30. I thought for second about my wish and I blew the candles.

The cake was mint, one of my favourite, the flavour blasted in my mouth, making my tongue to tingle a bit.

“This was a wonderful surprise, one I would never forget.” I said taking another bite of the cake, at this moment it didn’t matter that I was handcuffed from my neck, hands and legs or the fact that there were guards everywhere and I was in a cold room, sitting at the most uncomfortable chair.

None of it mattered, at this second. All I focused on was Samantha and the fact that she went above and beyond for me, that’s what mattered the most.
