I kissed her forehead as she went to bed, knowing her she would never have slept if I had not made it home.

The clock read 2:38 a.m it was late and I needed my sleep but today it seemed like it was far away from reach.

I looked out the window, everything looked so still and so quiet.

The only sound that came through was Nombuso’s little snores. I loved listening to her snores they somehow made me to relax.

I placed the knife on the table, this was never the life that I had chosen for myself but having to lose my parents at a tender age made me to wise up real fast.

I grew up on the streets and never had that much opportunity of going to school, everything I had was because of my hustling never have I ever hurt someone before and hopefully I never will.

I started being a thief at the age of 9 years and now I’m 25 years; being a thief is a part of me now. It is the only thing that I know.

I met Nombuso on a luck to be honest, she was coming back from school and I was there at the corner waiting and never have I seen such beauty in my entire life.

She was slender, with a portable figure and a hungry stomach. She had dreadlocks and had no fake nails and makeup; she was pretty at least she was my definition of pretty.

Never have I ever seen her around probably because she’s always indoors.

Her smile was the first that caught my attention and damn she was beautiful whenever she smiled.

She was different and different was good sometimes.

After 6 months of us dating she ran away from home because she was raped by her stepfather.

And after 2 years she was still here by my side and not even once had she given up on me.
