Shawn
I held Sindie closely towards my chest, not wanting to let her go. I kissed her forehead and lift her head so that she can face me. “I’m sorry.”
She sat up straight from the couch and gave Naledi a once over as she was colouring her book and turned back at me. “What do you mean you are sorry?”
“If we.. If I didn’t allow my feelings to get in the way we wouldn’t be in this situation.”
She cupped my face with her hands “Look at me. Never ever apologise for being with me, never apologise for taking Nale and I out of that house okay? You are my hero, my knight in shining armour. You,” she said pointing a finger at my chest “You saved us. Never feel bad about that you hear me.”
She was right I could never watch Ndumiso abuse her like that just because he wanted to.
“I love you Shawn, with all of my fragile heart. I live in constant fear that Ndumiso might walk through that door guns blazing, but i’m ready to face anything when I’m with you. I can run and look over my shoulder all day long but I would never give a damn in the world cause I have you by my side.”
She lay back on my chest “I never want to hear you apologise ever again for saving us, because that’s what you did.”
