Sindie

I quickly opened Shawn’s shirt as soon as the police took Ndumiso away and took out the bullet proof.

He soon came to life as he took his first breath.

“Is he gone?” He asked as he sat up. I nodded with tears on my eyes “He’s gone.” He quickly took me in his arms and held me there.

Earlier

The phone rang, Shawn quickly sat up from the bed and looked at me as if to tell me that something was about to happen soon.

“It was Simon.” He said as he hang up the phone. Simon was his older brother, but he joined Ndumiso way later.

“And?”

“Ndumiso found us, and we can’t run away.” He said getting up from the bed “I want you to make food as fast as you can, act like everything is normal. This place is fully protected Okay.”

I nodded as I hurried to the kitchen and made breakfast.

Soon as I placed the food on the table, Shawn ordered me not to react irrationally.

When the door flung open, Shawn pressed the button just under the table that would summon the police.

He even assured me that he was wearing protective gear underneath if anything were to ever happen.

Present moment

Naledi came running to come and hugged Shawn “Dada.”

Shawn took her in his arms and hugged her “Hello princess.” He kissed the top of her hear head and smiled ever so slightly. “Hey.”

He removed the fake blood bag and threw in across the room.

“You know all of this made me realise how much I never want to lose you. The thought of seeing Ndumiso shoot you was.. it was like he was doing it for real. It was like I was really losing you.”

“I’m never going anywhere, I’m never leaving you, Naledi and that baby okay.” He said wiping my tears.
