Mbali had just finished bathing and was about to sleep when her phone beeped.She checked her phone and her facial expression changed immediately.She video called her friends.

“Guys,I am doomed.” She told them.

“What’s up?” Mpumi asked.

“I just received a message from Rosebank Arts School.” She told them.

“Ok,and?” Amahle asked impatiently.

“Each participant must come with a maximum of two people of which at least one of them is above 18 and a parent or guardian.” Mbali said.

“That is bad.What are we going to do?” Mpumi asked.

“I don’t know.Maybe you guys could help?” Mbali said.

“You want us to pretend to be your guardians?No ways.” Amahle said.

“No that’s not what I meant.Don’t you perhaps know anyone above 18 and might be willing to help?” Mbali asked them

“I do know someone but it’s very hard to convince her so you are going to owe me big time.” Mpumi said.

“Anything is fine.Who is it?” Mbali asked.

“My 21 years old cousin.” Mpumi said.

“Nambitha?” Mbali asked.

“Yes.” Mpumi confirmed.

“Please try convincing her.”Mbali pleaded.

“I will try but I’m not promising anything.” Mpumi said.

“If she doesn’t agree one of you will have to become my guardian.”Mbali said.

Mbali was woken up by the sound of her alarm.It was 8am.She checked her phone for any missed calls or messages.There was a knock on her bedroom door.

“Come in.” She said.

Nikiwe came in.

“Hi sis.Just wanted to let you know that we’re leaving.”Nikiwe said.

“Ok,good luck.Make me proud.” Mbali said.

Nikiwe hugged her unexpectedly.

“Thanks.I promise to make you proud.”Nikiwe said still hugging her.

After they left,Mbali started preparing.Her phone rang as she was dressing up.

“Mpumi, what’s up?” Mbali answered the phone.

“We are near your gate.Your mom is not home right?” Mpumi asked.

Mbali chuckled.

“Of course she is not home.” Mbali said.

“Girl,you look stunning.” Nambitha said when she saw Mbali.

“I told you this dress was perfect.” Mpumi said.

“Thanks Nambitha.Where is Amahle and why are you dressed to kill,Mpumi?” Mbali asked.

“I told Amahle to not come because Nambitha is here and I am dressed like this because I am coming with Nambitha.” Mpumi said.

“Ok,I hear you but who will be doing my hair?” Mbali asked touching her afro.

“Girl, don’t you worry yourself about that.I will do your hair and also apply some makeup on your face.” Nambitha said showing her a makeup kit.

“You are a total lifesaver.Thank you.” Mbali said greatfully.

“See,I told you Nambi will do everything.” Mpumi said.

“Unfortunately Mpumi my friend,I don’t remember you telling me that.” Mbali said and they all laughed.
