Thandiwe

Night quickly came and with Thandi here it all felt like everything was going great. After dinner I showed her into her room “All mine?” She asked with a little sparkle in her eyes, it was a real changed from the smalk cramped space we used to call a home.

I nodded as I tucked her in.

“Good night.” I said as I switched off the light and went out and went to bed. “She’s a sweet kid.” He said as I switched to my pyjamas.

“Yeah she is.”

Sello was the first one to fall asleep, I settled on the bes and finished the cup of coffee that I had made, I looked at Sello and saw him looking peacefully. The word’s that Sbonga had said earlier still rang loudly on my ears.

I shook my head as I switched off, and closed my eyes.

Something woke me up, I looked at the bed time click refusing to believe that I had slept surprisingly the clock read 2:45.

Sello was gone from the bed, confused I took the gown amd quickly slipped it on and went to look for him.

“Babe?” I said in a whisper, scared to wake Thandi up.

I stopped on my tracks when I saw the locked door from earlier now opened. I slowly and walked in to the room and what I saw made me scream from the top of my lungs.

Facing me was no human, It was a huge snake with red glowing eyes. I stepped back slowly.

“Thandiwe.” Sello’s voice came out from the snakes mouth with a hiss.

“No.” I said as I shook my head.

All this was not true, such things I saw them on tv all of this can’t be true.

The snake moved so fast and before I knew it, it had surrounded me.

“There’s no going back now.”
