Thandiwe

As the people starts to thin out i breath a sigh of relief, my legs are throbbing from standing up and going up and down through all this Tarven.

It is now almost 3 a.m my eyes are now heavy from the no sleep, I stifle another yawn as I place a beer to the one customer that is left here, praying that no one walks in cause i know I won’t he able to take it anymore.

When the bottle is almost finished Mavis comes out from behind the till “We are closing.” She said with a stern voice.

The woman who is now drunk looks at the bottle “Isekhona.” She said as she burped.

“I don’t care, go and finish it somewhere else.”

“No, ngiy’thenge la so I’ll finish it right here.”

Mavis said nothing as she tapped her foot waiting anxiously for the woman to finish.

Right after she gulps down her beer she stands up walks out with no more balance and murmuring some nonsense.

Mavis followed her out as she went to lock the gate and came back and locked the door behind her. “Don’t worry about this mess right now you’ll get to clean tomorrow when you wake, you can sleep till late j don’t care but make sure that by 3 this place is spotless for those who like to drink early.”

“Okay, got it.” I say as I walk out to my now room making sure that I lock the door behind me.

I lie back on the small single bed and look around the room, the room is not bad it has a window that has blinds, it also has a dressing room with a small wardrobe and that’s about it, but I can never complain because if it weren’t for Mavis I would be out there possibly under a bridge or sleeping in the toilet rooms.

With my last thought I wonder if my mother is worried about me or she just doesn’t care, before I know it my eyes start to drop soon followed by my sleep.
