Sindie

The car ride was nothing but quiet, the car was filled with awkward silence which made me to appreciate having Naledi on my arms. Ndumiso didn’t say one word to me all he did was focus on his work on the iPad. The driver who did not say one word to me continued doing so.

The car slowed down as it entered the driveway, my jaw drops as I get out of the car. I take in all that is infront of me in this is not a house, this is a mansion.

The house was even bigger inside with beautiful exterior design. “Your room is upstairs, two doors on your left.” Ndumiso instructed as he disappeared somewhere in the house. I stepped on the all while marble stairs and hold the railing as I head up stairs, i head to the left and easily find my room.

I close the door behind me and slowly walked inside, the room is bigger than my shack, there’s a double Queen sized bed with soft linen, a walking closet and the most breath taking view.

Everything in this place is white, snow white to be exact with a hint of baby blue here and there.

I sit on the bed and let out an embarassing moan it as if I am sitting on the clouds.

The soft knock pulls me out of my daydream “Yes.”

The same person who drove us here entered with his hands behind him standing tall and straight as if he went to school to practice this “Will the baby wake up now?” He asked referring to Naledi. I shake my head on “I just fed her she won’t wake up anytime soon.”

“If that’s the case then can you please take her to her room it is adjoined with your room for easy access and come downstairs for your dinner.” With that he walked out.

I stood up and walked towards the door that had baby’s decoration, walking in was like walking in a different place; the room was full of colour unlike the rest of the house, the house was filled with yellow, gold mixed with white. There was a place for changing diapers, a rocking chair next to the baby’s bed and books, I gently placed Naledi on her crib once I saw that she slept without a hassle I placed the Winnie the Pooh blanket and kissed her goodnight.

As I head downstairs I felt out of place with my ragged clothes. I take a seat at the long table with Ndumiso at the far end.

The minute I sat down he started eating as if he was waiting for me, I took a bite of the salmon; the perfectly cooked salmon melted on my mouth i closed my eyes savouring the taste.
