Sindie

I paced at the waiting area not knowing what to do, all that was on my mind was for Shawn to make it, to live for both me and the children.

I looked at the time on my watch and so much time has passed since the doctors went inside.

The doctor came out with an unexplained expression.

“Doctor, my husband what’s happening in there? Is my husband okay? Is he stable?”

“Ma’am, why don’t we sit down?”

“I don’t want to sit down doctor, I want to know about my husband, tell me about my husband.” I shouted like a crazy woman or may I was a crazy woman at this moment in time.

“We did everything we…”

I shook my head “No, don’t you dare say it. Don’t you dare.” I said angrily “Go back in there and do your fucking job.”

The doctor offered me a sympathetic look as she tried to calm me down “We tried twice I’m sorry, you can go in there if you want.”

She said as she offered me a sympathetic smile and she walked away. I fell down in the middle of the floor and cried never before have I cried this much, the pain I was feeling was too much to bear. The thought of my kids without a father broke my heart even more and the thought of me without my best friend was too much to bear.

In what felt like forever I stood up from the ground and went to the room and indeed he was lying there not moving. I went by his side and cried, as I looked at how peaceful he looked.

I laid my head on his chest and cried even more. I looked at him as I wiped my tears and made a promise to him in that moment “I’ll finish what we started. I’ll make sure that I kill Ndumiso even if it’s the last thing that I do.” I said as I kissed his lips one last time and walked out no longer looking back, there’ll be time to grieve later now I’ll be hunting down Ndumiso and where I’ll catch him I’ll make sure to put a bullet in between his eyes.
