Simon
I went to office upstairs and made sure to close the door so no one will hear and took out my burner phone and called, the phone rang once before it was answered.
“Is everything okay, are Sindie and the kids okay?”
“Relax Shawn everything is still okay, Ndumiso has not yet attacked.”
“Sindie believes that I’m dead right?”
“Yeah she does, man I hate seeing her like this, so down. She really misses you.”
I could hear Shawn take a deep breath on the other side before he continued “I had to play dead, you know that to so that Ndumiso could believe it.”
“I know.”
“And prolong the issue of telling the kids, I don’t want them to know and make sure that they are not in the funeral, I don’t trust Ndumiso.”
“No problem, we’ll talk later.” I said as I sat down on the table and dropped the call. It was hard to look straight at Sindie’s eyes and lie to her.
I listened to her cry the whole night last night, I was even tempted to tell her that it was all fake and the nurses and doctors were all in it but I didn’t, soon she’ll know that it was fake, and that we did that to protect her and the kids and for Shawn to deal with Ndumiso once and for all.
