Sindie

I stabbed the chicken with the fork, my stomach can barely hold anything and just sitting here barely doing nothing makes me sick to my stomach.

I pushed the plate and looked at Naledi and Lloyd as they finish up “Hey sweethearts, why don’t you go and brush your teeth and after get ready for bed okay.”

“Okay,” Naledi said as they both skipped to the bathroom.

“My mind is racing.” I said as I looked at Shawn as he stood up, he also barely touched his food. “I know.” He said as he punched the wall

“It bothers me just as much the fact that I don’t know what he is thinking, I am stressed as you are probably even more, you guys are my first priority and I would take any bullet for any of you.”

“Hey.” I said as I walked over to him and buried my face on his chest “I have no doubt in you, I have never doubted you. Its just that…” He lifted up my face and smiled it was as if whenever he smiled everything was going to be okay “I don’t want you to worry that pretty little head of yours okay? Just leave Ndumiso to me okay?”

“Okay.” I said as I stood on my toes and kissed him “I’m going to read the kids their bed time story. Don’t stay up too late.” I said as I walked down the hallway. “I won’t.” he said after me.”

I slightly knocked on Naledi’s door and found her into her pyjamas and already tucked in the blankets.

“Ready for mommy to read you a story?” she nodded as she turned to her side and faced me.

I tried to smile as I watched her innocent face just imagining her away from me felt like a dagger was being twisted on my heart “Okay let us see where we ended with our story.” I said as I picked up the book on her nightstand and flipped to the bookmark and I began reading to her.
