It had begun to rain, so I turned to look at the wall clock. As it was already 11:11, I realised I was not the only person in the room. Someone was attempting to convince me that now that she was here, everything was infinite and would never end. I chose to ignore it and set my luggage down on the ground. When I sat on the bed, the room smelt overpoweringly like rat poop. It was bitterly cold. Dimmer lighting was given by three candles that were placed on polished golden candlesticks at the corner. A thick coating of dust had settled on the candle holder. In the blue-painted room, tan drapes with contrasts hung, and a worn-out cushion decorated the corner of a green sofa. I unzipped my luggage and set it down on my brought-along nightgown. I had an amulet necklace around my neck that I had worn for a long time; it had provided me with protection and assisted me in warding off evil spirits. I extinguished the candles and entered the bed with the dirty blankets.Due to the weather and the cold room, it took me a while to fall asleep, but I eventually did.
Although I opened my eyes, I couldn’t understand why I was staring at dark grey walls even though I knew the room I had slept in had blue painted walls. I jerked up, terrified because I couldn’t see the door and the room was on fire. My eyes were burned by the fire’s smoke, which also filled my lungs and made breathing difficult. In an effort to see clearly, I started massaging my eyes, but it had no effect. Due to the severe oxygen deprivation, my head began to spin. I tried to walk in search of an exit, but I tripped and fell. I tried crawling, but I was unable to do so because everything seemed to be occurring slowly. With my head now on the floor, I gazed in awe at the raging inferno that had taken up the space. I heard the floor break open. I painted ferociously while sitting up in bed and quickly glanced around the room to make sure it had all been a dream.
I looked for the match and turned on the candles. I then turned my eyes on the clock; it was the dead of night. The rain was raining very hard, the thunder grumbled like an old man, flash of lighting illuminated from the window, then hitting the candle stand causing the candles to become dim, and light up again. The thunder and lighting were a testimony that hell was about to break loose.
When I heard someone approaching the door, I got to my feet and moved toward it. Cockroaches could be seen scuttling over the bare, bare floor, feeding on food that I had no idea where it had come from. I heard a loud hammering sound as soon as I was directly in front of the door, and it seemed to be increasing louder by the second. A loud blast is heard. I was shoved to the ground by my back as the door swung open and a stinging wind pounded my face, each gust feeling like a slap of cold, wet canvas. The fact that the glass panes rattled was evidence of the ghost’s presence and strength. My gut began to clench. My face began to perspire as I felt it,and my heart tried to leap out from my chest.
As soon as I removed my amulet from my neck and placed it in my hand, the door slammed shut. The world went silent.
