(Later that evening, Sindi and Alex are in their bedroom, getting ready for bed. Sindi is brushing her hair, while Alex is changing into his pajamas. The tension between them is palpable, and Sindi can’t help but confront Alex about his behavior around Busi.)

Sindi: (her voice low and even) Alex, can I talk to you about something?

Alex: (looking up, sensing that something is wrong) What’s up?

Sindi: (putting down her hairbrush) It’s about Busi. I noticed the way you were looking at her tonight, and I have to say, I’m not comfortable with it.

Alex: (shrugging) What are you talking about? I was just being friendly.

Sindi: (her eyes narrowing) Friendly? You were flirting with her, Alex. And it’s not just that. I can see the way you look at her, the way you talk to her. You’re interested in her, aren’t you?

Alex: (sighing) Sindi, don’t be ridiculous. I’m just being polite to your friend. That’s all.

Sindi: (her voice rising) Polite? You call that polite? You were practically drooling all over her! And what’s worse, you’re doing it right in front of me, like I’m not even here.

Alex: (defensive) That’s not fair, Sindi. You’re overreacting. I’m just trying to be friendly to your friend.

Sindi: (anger and hurt in her voice) Friendly? You’re my boyfriend, Alex. Not some single guy who can just flirt with anyone he wants. You’re supposed to be committed to me, not chasing after my friends.

Alex: (raising his voice) I’m not chasing after anyone, Sindi. You’re just being paranoid and insecure. Maybe you’re the one who’s not comfortable with Busi being here, not me.

Sindi: (tears in her eyes) How can you say that? You’re the one who’s been flirting with her, not me. And another thing, since when are you interested in writing articles? You’ve never shown any interest in that before, but suddenly you’re talking to Busi about it like you’re some kind of expert.

Alex: (pausing, looking guilty) I…I just thought it was something we could talk about, that’s all.

Sindi: (outraged) Save it, Alex. You’re not fooling anyone. You’re interested in Busi, and you’re using this writing thing as an excuse to talk to her. Well, let me tell you something, it’s not going to work. I see right through you.

Alex: (anger in his voice) Maybe we do. Because right now, I’m feeling like I’m being suffocated by your jealousy and possessiveness. Maybe I need some space, some freedom to be myself without you constantly accusing me of something.

Sindi: (her voice shaking) Fine. If that’s what you want, then maybe you should take some space. But don’t come crying to me when you realize you’ve made a mistake, because I won’t be here waiting for you.

(The argument ends with Sindi storming out of the bedroom, leaving Alex alone and feeling guilty and unsure of what to do next.)
