*THE YOUTH IS DEPRESSED (POETIC JUSTICE* by Makaziwe Gotyana

The youth is depressed but,

They never noticed, they never cared.

What we feel inside is bigger than us.

We turned into victims of drugs but,

They blame it on us.

Never want to know the root of that evil.

They expect the unexpected from us.

And we changed.

We’re no longer the kids they used to know.

Those who are supposed to comfort us,

Already turned on us.

The youth is depressed but,

Still, they ever noticed, they never cared.

Everything we reached out, they all distanced.

You could tell by the sorrow in our eyes.

We used to enjoy living life but,

Not anymore.

The fight is much bigger than us,

We failed to fight our demons,

Now they dragging us to the darkness.

We don’t see the light.

The youth is depressed but,

They never noticed, they never cared.

What we feel inside is bigger than us.

Our minds are so full of negativity and fake promises.

We’re no longer energetic, perhaps we’re hopeless.

Everything feels so pointless and powerless.

We’re always felt alone and lost in the middle of nowhere.

The youth is depressed but,

They never noticed, they never cared.

What we feel inside is bigger than us.

We’re no longer the kids they used to know.

They never asked how we feel but,

They expect more from us.
