When I am rich, when I’m finally successful

When I have reached all my dreams and goals

When my cup is full and finally overflows

When my good work is finally well known all over the world

Remind me not to forget

Of my mother’s endless sacrifices

And my father’s good teachings

And my brother’s constant scoldings

My sister’s warnings and advices

Remind me not to forget

Of my teachers efforts

And my classmates everyday help

And the school staff words of encouragement

And my sleepless nights studying

Remind me not to forget

Of the pastor’s sermon about the beauty of success

And my aunt’s preaching about the results of independence

And the elderly ladies praying for me after church

And my cousin’s good example of studying abroad

Remind me not to forget

Of my neighbour’s cooking that kept us going during my mother’s struggle

Of my friends that helped me with their lunchboxes

Of days that I spent without warm clothes for the warm weather

Of the unbearable rain on our way to school by foot

Remind me not to forget

Of my dreams that kept me going

When life tortured like hell

Of speeches that I wrote for my wealthy self

Of the cars and houses that I would own finally

Remind me not to forget

To be humble to men and submissive towards God

To love all and treat them with respect

To continue being hardworking and dedicated

To protect my heart from harmful desires

Because it is easy to forget

That we are dust and to it we will return

About everyone who helped us on our way

That riches are a status not a virtue

That is why I ask you to remind me not to forget
