Look at her, my wife.

She is alluring, sexy and unfaithful.

Just look at her, pretending that she loves me and

Leaning in close for a kiss,

But only God knows where that mouth has been.

Rumour has it that she’s been at it

With my neighbour for a while now.

It only makes sense,

Why she called out his name

Last night when we were making love.

There are always whispers behind my back.

I am the laughing stock of the community.

I don’t know if they are laughing that I don’t know,

Or that I know but continue to allow it,

Like the stupid man that I am.

The funny thing is that; she prays day and night

And she still cheats on me.

Probably to ease her conscience

On breaking one of the Lord’s commandments.

Not for breaking my heart.

I labour day and night,

To provide for her.

The blood, sweat and tears that

I’ve sowed to give her the finer things in life

Is being reaped by other men.

Now she wants to get rid of me.

She called the police and told them that

I manhandled her.

But I know she wants to get me out of the picture,

To be with the ones she loves.

I should’ve listened to my mother

When she cautioned me about her.

But this is the bed that I have made

And I have to lie in it

With tears streaming down my face.
