I thought I still had time

To let you know that you’re a dime.

If not anyone’s, then mine;

But I couldn’t have prepared for

What life had in store.

Before the desired day was at hand,

Well; life happened.

Now I regret not taking a chance.

I regret not asking you for a dance.

Do I blame this cruel life

For taking you from me?

Or do I blame all the time

That I thought you still had to live?

You smile in splendor;

Oh behold, a beautiful slender.

If only I had known

Then I’d have told you long before.

But I was never shown

Just how much time you’d live for.

I’d have kissed you on your cheeks

Just to make you smile;

And always told you to remember this,

You’ll always be mine.

Massaged your feet even when they weren’t sore;

Trying my best to pour

Out all the love I had,

Before your time was at hand.

Before life happened;

That’s all I can say in regret; that life happened.
