*LAST BREATH* by Makaziwe Gotyana
Two o’clock in the morning.
A phone ring with bad news,
Many were shocked.
Even myself I was too.
He breathed for the last time.
Such a good humbling soul.
Always trying to lead the flock,
To the right side.
We’re all not perfect, and he wasn’t too.
He did what was meant to be done.
It was the way he was taught.
Lived his life on the good side,
Not because he never had the bad side
Call my sisters he said.
Make sure everything moves well.
I don’t want drama.
These are my last words.
My last breath will follow next.
I’m old now.
Let this legacy be with you.
I know I will be no more but,
I will watch over you forever.
I asked the Lord to guide you too.
I’m your messenger to the Lord.
I sat down and cry.
I knew that was going to happen.
Dry your tears son he said.
In spirit, I will be with you
So unexpected and sad.
I wish he sees my success but,
Took him before that.
My old man,
May his soul rest in peace.
