I stood on the main street.
It was quiet and lousy.
Like nobody lives here.
I went to the other street; few people saw.
All who I know is no more.
I tried to ask but nobody knows.
Those smiles and laughter of them,
Is left in memories.
Cause they no longer live here,
They also looked for me but, I was miles away.
They also asked nobody knew where I was at,
Only my family knew.
I came on holiday I discovered,
Nothing is the same.
Life was going on, never waiting for anybody.
All we do is greetings only,
Nothing much we say.
We like strangers somehow, thou
We were friends.
Everybody is always in hurry, I guess
We’re all after the future.
Some had thrown away their futures,
For crazy little things.
Claiming life is hard, though life was hard before we were born.
Gunshots every night,
Something we were not used to.
Life used to be easy not used to.
All we thought of was school and,
Playing hide to seek.
Now seem to be a trap to many of us.
All we have is stress and anxiety.
Concerned about the future,
Something we never worry about before.
Now it’s our only concern.
Everything has changed (except the streets)
