Your spirit left your body unexpectedly.

Like blood, death came uninvited.

Excitement was building up when you left your flesh.

Everything was set in the room, the food; smiles were prepared to welcome you home.

We thought that laughter might make you whole.

And I waited, thinking I would ace my math assignment this term.

Because numbers always ran in your veins like blood.

Suddenly

It happened.

A call ordered me to wear a skirt, for it is tradition.

I obliged the order and sank deep into my thoughts.

A part of me was in denial, but reality hit me so hard as an elephant sat in my chest.

February was supposed to be a month of love.

You were supposed to wake up on the 14th with a valentine’s message on your phone.

A kiss from your significant other reassuring you that you are still loved.

Love was supposed to be in the air.

Instead, your life became a vapour and disappeared in that air.
