A little too much.

The day started off like any other day,

06:00 a.m., the sun was already peaking

in through the windows in our room.

Neither of us

wanted to wake up,

so we laid down and faced the ceiling

and got lost in our thoughts.

Minds wandered around

as the loud silence

filled the room, each one of us

thinking about how we refuse

to let out to one another,

how do we stop ourselves

time and again from stripping our emotions naked

to let each other in

and create a space safe enough for us

to crawl into every time

the outside world overwhelms us.

We ask ourselves plenty of questions,

Creating room for doubt

and allowing it to consume us,

all in the name of fearing asking a little too much

from a person who wouldn’t mind moving mountains

to have us safe and secured.
