CHAPTER TWO
Rhoda’s life in a hidding place and the start of confusion in a house of fairy tales.
SCENE 2
IN A HOUSE OF FAIRY TALES,
MR AND MRS RONE ARE BOTH WATCHING TELEVISION.
(He switched off a television.)
Mr. Rone: Do you still remember the day we went to Alaska together?
Mrs Rone: Yes.
Mr Rone: It is the very same day we both saw the significance of loving one another: You could have been hit by a car, but a young man jumped out of his own car then pushed you to safe your life.
Mrs Rone: That is how some people are, Mr Rone, they have something that is unseen or untouched. That young man could have let the car hit me, but he chose to help.
(She looked down then let her tears drop to the floor.)
Some people are born to love, then when they love, they don’t choose who to love, they love every person with the same scale of love.
Mr Rone: Your daughter should know about that, Mrs Rone.
(She went to Rhoda’s Room.)
Mrs Rone: What! No!
(She is calling Mr Rone.)
Mr Rone! Mr Rone!
(Mr Rone ran to Rhoda’s room.)
Rhoda escaped!
Mr Rone: What is that supposed to mean?
Mrs Rone: Her clothes are not here, Mr Rone!
Mr Rone: Check her in Mrs Donna’s room.
(she ran to Mrs Donna’s room.)
Mrs Rone: Mr Rone! Mr Rone!
(He ran to Mrs Donna’s Room.)
She escaped too!
Mr Rone: What’s wrong in this house of fairy tales?
Mrs Rone: You made them to escape, Mr Rone.
Mr Rone: How?
Mrs Rone: You have to ask yourself how you made them to escape.
(She left.)
SCENE 3
IN CHICCO’S HOUSE,
ENTERED MRS RONE.
(They went to Chicco’s dining room.)
Mrs Rone: Haven’t you seen Rhoda and Mrs Donna?
Chicco: I saw them last night.
Mrs Rone: Where?
Chicco: In a house of fairy tales.
Mrs Rone: They escaped last night.
Chicco: Escaped to where?
Mrs Rone: I don’t know: that’s why I am here.
(She took a note from her bag then gave it to Chicco.)
Chicco: (She is reading.)
The best education in the family is not the presence of confusions or obstacles only: it is also the presence of love, faith, support, commitment, respect and courage to overcome any confusion and any obstacle. The absence of love, faith, support, commitment, respect, and courage to overcome any confusion or any obstacle, breaks the family into thousand pieces.
Mrs Donna: That is what she left in her house.
Chicco: Where did they go?
(She went to the window then look at John Smith.)
This is tragic! They should have at least said goodbye!
(She came back.)
I suggest one place where we can find them.
Mrs Rone: Where?
Chicco: Outside John Smith, in Dilen’s house.
Mrs Rone: Dilen’s house! Mrs Donna won’t go there!
Chicco: It’s a suggestion, Mrs Rone.
Mrs Rone: Let’s put hope into your suggestion.
Chicco: That will better than doing nothing.
Mrs Rone: Goodbye, Chicco.
Chicco: Goodbye, Mrs Rone.
(She left.)
SCENE 4
IN A HOUSE OF FAIRY TALES, ENTERED MRS RONE.
Mr Rone: Did you find them?
Mrs Rone: No. You know what? I know you don’t know. I went to both Chicco’s house and Dilen’s house but still not find them!
Mr Rone: Where did they go!
Mrs Rone: I don’t know.
Mr Rone: They should have said goodbye.
Mrs Rone: We have to start searching for them before is going to be too late.
Mr Rone: Did you go to Prince’s house?
Mrs Rone: Mrs Donna and Rhoda will never go to Prince’s house: how can you think like that?
Mr Rone: What do we have to do now?
Mrs Rone: Call the police!
(The phone rang in Rhoda’s Room.)
Mr. Rone: Do you hear that?
Mrs. Rone: What?
Mr. Rone: The phone is ringing in her room, it could be her; Go and answer it, please!
(She left to Rhoda’s room to answer a phone.)
Mrs. Rone: Good day! You are speaking to Mrs Rone, Rhoda’s mother, how can I help you?
Mr Smith: Hello to you too, Mrs Rone, you are speaking to Mr Smith, the officer who is responsible for investigating the disappearance of your mother and your daughter. Do you mind if i can come to your house tomorrow?
Mrs Rone: Thank you for asking, Mr Smith: You may come!
Mr Smith: I will be there tomorrow morning.
Mrs. Rone: I will see you tomorrow then.
Mr Smith: Enjoy the rest of your day, Mrs Rone.
Mrs. Rone: You too enjoy the rest of your day, Mr Smith.
(Mr Rone joined her in Rhoda’s room.)
Mr. Rone: What’s going on, Mrs Rone? Is she okay?
Mrs. Rone: The person who called here was investigator Smith: Did you tell him about Rhoda and Mrs Donna’s disappearance?
Mr. Rone: Yes.
Mrs. Rone: I thought this was a family matter!
Mr. Rone: Mr Smith is an Investigator of this family, Mrs Rone, It is her job to Investigate until he find them.
Mrs Rone: We have to find them.
Mr Rone: What did he say?
Mrs Rone: He said he will come to this house tomorrow morning.
Mr Rone: Let’s wait to hear from him before we take any decision, Mrs Rone.
(They both left Rhoda’s room.)
THE END OF Act 2
Act 3
SCENE 1
OUTSIDE JOHN SMITH,
IN A BARRACKS.
(Rhoda is talking to Dilen.)
Rhoda: There is something I want to tell you, Dilen.
(She took Roses out of her bag then gave them to Dilen.)
Look how beautiful they are!
Dilen: They remind me the ones I bought for my mother in Las Vegas when I was fourteen years old.
Rhoda: Why did you buy her Roses?
Dilen: She was a very special person in my life.
(She gave her a picture.)
When I was ten years old she took me to Las angels then told me to look after somebody too when I grow up.
Rhoda: She sound like she was a good person!
Dilen: She also gave me this note.
(He gave her a note.)
Rhoda: (She is reading a note.)
I grow up with a friend who was deaf; Can you imagine how difficult that was? I didn’t know sign language, and her too she didn’t know it etheir. But the education I have received from her will remain the best education I have ever received in my entire life. If you want to be a good person in life, you must first find out who you are.
That’s very nice to hear.
Dilen: Love is not that simple: it is really hard, Rhoda.
Rhoda: I see.
Dilen: You see!
Rhoda: Yes.
Dilen: I thought you don’t have an idea of what a note is trying to say to you.
Rhoda: I heard it, Dilen.
Dilen: That’s very nice, if indeed you heard what it was trying to say to you.
Rhoda: Do you want to know a person who send me those Roses?
Dilen: Yes.
Rhoda: They are from Prince.
Dilen: From Prince! The owner of fourteen hotels?
Rhoda: And two bed and break fast in John Smith’s town.
Dilen: Did you meet him before?
Rhoda: No.
Dilen: What a first self impression!
Rhoda: The flowers doesn’t tell more story in first self impression, Dilen, it has to be something I don’t know.
Dilen: A million dollar car, Million euro plane, Thousand rand dress, or a ship that coast Millions of Brazilian re al?
Rhoda: No! Why will I wear a dress that cost thousands of rands while I can donate that money to the charities? Those kids out there deserve a chance in life. They are our kids and our future doctors, actors, pilots, singers, writers, police officers, teachers, nurses, poets, house kippers, tour guides, engineers, philosophers, scientists, Investigators, criminogist, and motivational speakers. They might look small, but they have a purpose. However, it is not up to one person to make them realize that purpose; it is up to every person who is willing to do so. You can choose to shane to people that you have money then die with it, or you can choose to use that money to make difference in someone’s life; it is a choice that must be taken in life.
Dilen: You reminded me something.
(She gave her another note.)
I received it from my mother as well.
Rhoda: (She is reading.)
A blind person never saw his or her face, or any other thing that we see. He or she only hear that there is a television, a car, a radio, a plane, and a cell phone. But that is not what differentiate us with them; what differentiate us with them is who we are: They know themselves more than we do.
Rhoda: I love your mother.
Dilen: I love her too.
Rhoda: What are you going to do now?
Dilen: I have done my best to fulfill Mrs Donna’s wishes, there is nothing else I can do, hoping you will enjoy your stay here.
Rhoda: Aren’t you going to come back?
Dilen: I will come back.
He left.
SCENE 2
BACK TO JOHN SMITH TOWN,
IN A HOUSE OF FAIRY TALES,
ENTERED DILEN.
(Mr Rone took him to his dining room.)
Mrs Rone: I came to your home yesterday but I didn’t find you.
Dilen: I was in Chicco’s house yesterday.
Mrs Rone: I was there to ask you if you know something about Mrs Rone and Rhoda’s disappearance.
Dilen: Mrs Donna disappeared! Mrs Rone, please tell me that you are not telling me the truth! You have to do something, Mrs Rone.
Mr Rone: We are still waiting for Investigator Smith to give us a way forward; If he tells us to call John Smith police ststation, we will do so.
(The door bell rang.)
Mr Rone: Someone is at the door, Mrs Rone.
(Mrs Rone went to the door then open it.)
Mrs. Rone: Mr Smith! Come in!
Mr Smith: Thank you very much, Mrs Rone.
(They went to the dining room.)
Mr. Rone: It is nice to see you here, Mr Smith.
(He turned his attention to Dilen.)
Dilen, he is Mr Smith, the investigator who is responsible for investigating Mrs Donna and Rhoda’s disappearance.
(He turned his attention back to Mr Smith.)
Mr Smith, please meet Dilen, my daughter’s friend.
Dilen: It is nice to see you again, Mr Smith.
Mrs Rone: You know him?
Dilen: Mr Smith was my mother’s friend.
Mrs Rone: You are welcome, Mr Smith.
Mr Smith: I am sorry for keeping you waiting.
Mr Rone: That’s not a problem, Mr Smith.
Mr Smith: What happened?
Mrs Rone: We don’t have a clue of what happened: we just found out the day before yesterday that their clothes are not in the house.
Mr Smith: What about the security guard, where was he when they escape this house! Don’t you have a security guard?
Mr Rone: Old man is our guard.
Mr Smith: What did he say when you tell him about Mrs Donna and Rhoda’s disappearance?
Mrs Rone: He said he didn’t see them leave this house.
Mr Smith: Who was the last person to enter this premises? Then who were the last one to leave? Didn’t you see a car outside before they leave?
Mrs Rone: We don’t know what happened, Mr Smith.
Mr Smith: I will try to speak with your security guard; I will love to ask him few questions.
Mrs Rone: Are we going to find them?
Mr Smith: Yes.
Mr Rone: Thanks for giving us hope, Mr Smith.
(Mr Smith, Dilen, and Mrs Rone left Mr Rone dialling numbers on his phone.)
Prince: (He is answering Mr Rone’s phone call.)
Hello, Mr Rone, you are speaking to Prince, how can I help you sir?
(Mr Rone didn’t respond.)
Is everything okay?
Mr. Rone: Everything is fine, Mr Prince. Do you mind visiting us tomorrow?
Prince: Why will I mind, Mr Rone? I will love to visit your house for the first time in my life.
Mr. Rone: Meet us tomorrow then: Mrs Rone will be so excited to see you for the first time.
Prince: I will be there!
(He took a phone off his ear then there after went to his bedroom.)

Molyn: It is okay, Miss, take it easy!
Rhoda: Who are you?
Molyn: Come down! Drink this water, please!
(He gave her a glass of water.)
What are you doing here?
Rhoda: It is a book: But you tell me, what are you doing here?
Molyn: You should have answered it first. But its okay: I am searching for a new life.
Rhoda: What kind of life?
Molyn: Life that comes from nowhere.
Rhoda: Don’t you think its a waste of time? I mean you might be here for the rest of your life.
Molyn: That is what I love, to stay free without been worried about tomorrow. Today I met you. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow I might meet somebody else. That’s life, miss, it is on its way; I am in the train.
Rhoda: That’s good!
Molyn: Yeah!
Rhoda: It is nice to meet you, Sir.
Molyn: Nice to meet you too, Miss.
(She started walking.)
I think you are lost, miss.
Rhoda: My name is Rhoda, call me Rhoda Rone.
Molyn: You were coming from the east going to the west.
Rhoda: Thank you!
(She left.)
