Monday. 23:00 pm. Maria and her friend, Martha, are sleeping outside a closed shop in the CBD. They have covered themselves with old, worn-out blankets.

Two, visibly intoxicated girls come out of a club. Each holds a half-empty beer in one hand.

GIRL 1: Chom, don’t do this to me, please. it’s still fun here!

GIRL 2: B.O.B club is fire! Come on, Z! it’s just around the corner!

GIRL1 Are you sure we can handle another club?

GIRL 2: What’s up with 21 questions? Or you don’t want to make some unforgettable memories with me?

GIRL 1: Alright, alright. Fine. Let’s do it. But we come back later.

GIRL 2: Deal. I promise, you won’t regret this.

GIRL 1: If you say so… Which way?

GIRL 2 (giggles) This way. (they walk towards Maria’s direction)

Maria wakes up and watch the drunk girls. Girl 1 phone rings. She fishes from the pocket and takes the phone out.

GIRL 2: Who is calling at this time of night?

GIRL 1: Wait a sec. (checks) Argh mom?! (she drops it) let’s go!

They continue giggling and stumbling as they make their way to the second club.

Witnessing the girl dropping her mom’s call upset Maria and cut her deep in the heart. She knows very well the pain of not having a mother.

MARTHA (awakening from her sleep): Looks like someone wants to drop a tear, what’s up? You want to join the club?

MARIA: No. (Sighs) Not at all.

MARTHA: You’ve been feeling really down lately. Have you considered going back to your prayer life?

MARIA: I feel like I’ve lost touch with that part of my life. I don’t think going back to that life is going to be easy. A lot has changed.

MARTHA: Well, nothing is easy in this world. Fight!

MARIA: But where should I go to pray?

MARTHA: How about going to the mountains? It’s natural and peaceful.

MARIA: Oh wow. That sounds like a good idea. I’ll give it a try.

MARTHA (takes out drugs): You’re welcome.

MARIA No, Martha!

MARTHA: What?

MARIA: We agreed no more drugs, remember?

MARTHA: Hey girl! My life, my rules!

MARIA: Fine. But don’t smoke here, find a spot!

MARTHA: If you say so.

MARIA: Good.

Martha leaves. Maria continues sleeping.
