Being a single parent… I don’t know how it feels but I know it emotionally drains. Growing up,I looked through the world and “Guess what I noticed?” That we as kids are selfish and don’t even notice the burdens and the struggles that our parents goes through individually. And believe me when I say that it almost killed me slowly.

My mom is a fighter. That’s the only word that mostly suits and even describes her. She is one of the women who encourages us to know our worth and values. You know, sometimes explaining things opens old wounds but nonetheless I truly admire women who still care about our roots and how children grow up.

Women experience a lot as single parents. Handling both the mother figure and father figure to your multiple kids at the same time ain’t easy and women suffer alone with no place to run to. Imagine growing up from birth to being a mother yourself without going to bed hungry…. do u think it was simple?

No,but your own single parent managed to provide. No parent enjoys seeing their own child suffer. Single parents make it a point that they close all the pains and struggles for their children sake. Imagine the struggle that a single father faces raising a girl child. It ain’t easy at all.

That’s why I feel like we as a country failed and wronged each other. i am saying these because I believe that it takes a village to raise a child. Our parents suffer, yes, and I beg not to argue but they do everything in their power to make us happy and give us all that we ask for.

The least we can do is to appreciate, study and never disappoint them but what do we do? We fail, we smoke drugs and become addicts, we get pregnant at younger ages, we become criminals, we forget our struggles, we hurt them, disappoint them and we destroy our future.

Have you ever thought of how that destroys their peace and breaks their hearts? No… I don’t think so because if we did… change would have been our first priority as a youth.Single parents experience a lot. That’s why it’s important for us kids to limit the stress that we cause because they are already going through a lot. Its important that we wear, eat and appreciate what our parents have instead of demanding a lot.

I rest my case.
