It is a very cold dark winter morning, Thando is already awake sitting on the edge of the old bed in the cold, small, dark shack, she was dressed in her yellow polo neck and her 1 size to small pale track pants, she looked back at her daughter who was sleeping peacefully as if she’s asleep in a warm bed but instead there’s only 2 blankets to cover and comfort them in this harsh mid year winter. Thando stands up from the bed and walks to the gas cylinder to boil water to prepare her daughter for creche but the gas cylinder is empty not even a little gas to boil water for aleast two minutes, she heavily sighed and proceeded to the tin breadbin to see if there’s bread but unfortunately there’s only two slices left to the bread that expired two days ago, she toke one slice for her self there was no bread spread. Thando slowly dragged herself back to the edge of the old bed and sat down with one slice in one hand and a glass of water in the other hand, her heart broke when she thought about the good olden days compared to this struggle, she couldn’t take her daughter Angela to creche.

She thought how peer pressure and just one reckless night changed her life for the worst, she moved from her warm comfy home in Town to come and leave in this cold stuffy squatter camps, how she became a victim of teenager pregnancy just because of few words her friends said.

She remembered the night in the club she was only 16 and just wanted to have harmless fun outside of her comfort zone. Her mind traced back to when she was dancing on top of the club’s white varnished table and how her friends had told her to try and get herself laid, some guy approached and this was her chance, she felt the urge to do it as all her friends had done it.

It just took 10 minutes for her daughter Angela to be conceived and only 10 minutes for her life to change forever. Her dad kicked her out before she could even finish her sentence, she was stuck in a cold old shack covered with newspapers all over, there’s only a candle and 2 blankets to comfort her from the winter cold but aleast her daughter also had her for comfort.

All because of peer pressure her life was thrown in the drain!
