Life is a beautiful journey, many highs and lows, riddled with broken expectations, marred by COVID-19 blows – leaving us feeling like we are captured in catch-22 moments throughout our varying walks of life.

To retract back to our initial conversation, life is a beautiful journey with its fair shares of highs and lows, however sometimes life brings us into catch-22 moments in unexpected ways. Death striking a blow on a close relative, or family member, friends or possibly lose your job due to the pandemic.

But, one thing that needs to remain clear with us in tying times – is that we are living, the air in our lungs bares testament that hope is on the horizon, and below we will read a poem by Amanda Michelle Sanders which personifies the glimpses of hope on the horizon in your life when she unravels the Titanic catch-22 one moment in history:

” They floated there in the water
freezing to their deaths
Their lips were ice and blue
there was frost on their breaths

Out of the corner of her eye
Rose saw a rescue boat up ahead
Her heart started thumping
not everyone was dead ”

– Amanda Michelle Sanders 2015

Amanda Michelle Sanders clearly depicts to us that the catch-22 moment which engulfed Rose in her poem, but one thing Rose did not do in her catch-22 moment when her counterparts who were with her in the Titanic felt the grip of death, as bodies floated in clear gaze of death, lips dried up by the cold – but an outstanding ability of Rose when catch-22 moments gripped her up, she did something significant that we all need to do when confronted by unprecedented circumstances; is to start looking at the possibilities to survive the storms in our lives, because Rose saw a rescue boat in her disparity out of the corner of her eye, when all hope seemed lost. Her heart started thumping.
