At this point, you need to have a draft of your final essay. If you don’t, go and write it and then come back as the tips below are all about editing and checking your work.

The minimum word count is 600 – and the maximum 1000.

You can have a look at some of FunDza’s Tips for Writers here:Tips for writers

Now to check your work:

Is your essay divided into paragraphs?
Do you stick to one tense – the past or the present?
Do your sentences flow well – not too long or short? (The best way to check your writing is to read it aloud to yourself.)
Have you given small details/used direct speech/draawn on the senses to make your writing come alive?
Does your essay have some kind of beginning, middle and end?

If you can answer YES to all of these questions, you are ready to submit your final piece.

Again, make sure you have a complete copy on paper before you submit it.
