Mr Ngxaka goes into Khalipha’s class. Khalipha is excited and nervous. Throughout the class, Khalipha raises her hand to answer Mr Ngxaka’s questions, but he doesn’t pick her. He ignores her throughout the lesson. Khalipha, being angry and hurt by this, goes to his class during lunch break. She opens his door to find Mr Ngxaka in a heated conversation with Zesipho.

KHALIPHA: Ngxaka. Zesipho.

ZESIPHO: We are talking, Khalipha. Come back another time.

KHALIPHA: Ngxaka. I want to speak to you.

MR NGXAKA: Zesipho, out.

ZESIPHO: What? What is going on here? Is she also bearing a child of yours?

ALIZWA: (coming in unexpectedly) What?

KHALIPHA: Zwayi, I have got this.

ZESIPHO: Ngxaka. It is either they go out, or I do, and once I get out of that door, I am heading straight to the principal’s office.

MR NGXAKA: Everybody, calm down.

KHALIPHA: It seems to me like you are the one freaking out. Is she your girlfriend, Ngxaka? (hyperventilating) Is that it? She is your baby mama?

MR NGXAKA: Hey, it’s not like that, Nkosazana.

KHALIPHA: Don’t call me that. Just answer my question.

ALIZWA: Chommie, let’s go.

KHALIPHA: No! (tearing up) He said he loved me, he said….you said you cared about me.

ZESIPHO: Well, I am the baby mama. What are you?

MR NGXAKA: Will you shut up, Zesipho?

ALIZWA: Let’s go, Khalipha. (This time, Alizwa drags a crying Khalipha to the door.)

Tell us: What do you think will happen next? What advice would you give to Khalipha if she was your friend?
