The morning after, the three friends fetch their results from their former high school and then proceed to celebrate their achievements.
Sithandile: GUYS, I GOT INTO UCT!
Qhama: Congratulations! (He picks her up joyfully.)
Qiqa: I am so happy for you. This is your dream come true.
Sithandile: Right? I am going back home tomorrow.
Qiqa: There she goes. We are still celebrating.
Sithandile: Yes, but I need to start planning my trip to Cape Town. In fact, I am going back to the boarding house to start packing now.
On the way to the boarding house, she passes by her high school to visit her former agricultural sciences teacher.
Mr Aquan: Oh, there is one of my favourite learners.
Sithandile: (smiling) Thank you.
Mr Aquan: I am really proud of you. I knew you could pull this off. Sit down, let us talk.
Sithandile: Yes… (fiddling with her hands) I am sorry I…let you down.
Mr Aquan: Nonsense! You did your best, Sithandile, and that is what I wanted from you.
Sithandile: I know but…I just feel so bad.
Mr Aquan: Stop it, you are still one of my favourite learners. Now with your results, every university you applied to must have accepted you, so which one are you going to?
Sithandile: I haven’t confirmed anything yet, but I think I am going to UCT.
Mr Aquan: (with a prideful smile) Of course you are. See? I told you you would get in; you need to stop being so stubborn when I tell you things.
Sithandile: (smiling) I’ll try. Thanks to you, Sir, I really appreciate your help throughout this year.
Mr Aquan: (jokingly) Yeah, I will gladly wait for you to buy me a house when you start working. (They both laugh.) Anyways, what did your mother say about you going to Cape Town?
Sithandile: I haven’t told her yet. I will do so when I see her tomorrow.
Mr Aquan: What about your father? He stays in Cape Town, right?
Sithandile: (frowning) Uh… yes. He didn’t ask, so…
Mr Aquan: Oh, I am sorry to hear that. Don’t let it trouble you though, this is a time of celebration, so celebrate and worry less about other people. I hope you are not planning on going partying, Sithandile.
Sithandile: (laughing) Of course not. How could I do that?
Mr Aquan: I am joking, I know you are too good for that. Well, all the best with your studies this year. I will be telling my learners about you all year.
Sithandile: (nodding with a smile) I would be honoured, Sir.
Tell us: Do you have a favourite teacher? What do you like about them?
