“Every South African citizen should know their rights and be given the opportunity to know the constitution so that they can fight for basic services. In our community there are people who are not even aware that they have a right to free water. It is important that poor people organise themselves and build their own power.”

Shamitha Naidoo is a paralegal and community caregiver based in KwaZulu-Natal. She is involved in numerous community projects and uses her knowledge of the law to fight injustice.
