Boesmansgat

The staff from Mount Carmel Safaris took me in, fed me and generally just faffed over me. They were concerned when I told them of my plan to walk to Boesmansgat on the farm, as they said it would be too far. Obviously their far and my far are far apart!

Boesmansgat (‘Bushman’s Hole’) is believed to be the third-deepest submerged freshwater cave (or sinkhole) in the world, approximately 270m (886ft) deep. It is also the place where a diver lost his life trying to recover the body of another for the latter’s family.
