She recalled the day her family almost had an accident because someone didn’t stop when the lights turned red. It had happened really fast. Their car spurn round the bend and slammed into a tree to a halt! Except for the little cuts and bruises everyone suffered, no one was hurt badly. Thankful, that no one died she decided to focus on gratitude. Yana loved oranges and oranges were orange so she decided to think about oranges.

It reminded her of sweet, sour and bitter, all tastes she had experienced while eating oranges. Thinking about these tastes made her remember lime and lemon too. It always amazed her that lemons and limes tasted so sour! Just thinking about it made her mouth taste sour! Yuck! She shifted her mind to think of colour indigo but because her stomach made noises, she suddenly realized that she had been thinking about food all along.

She imagined eating a bowl of beans and how it would make her grow taller than her brother who always teased her about him being taller than her. She smiled at the memory and concluded that he was also a clown, the way he made everyone in the family laugh. Her stomach rumbled again, she knew she had to eat something to make it stop! She ran into the house and went right on into the kitchen to find what she would eat. Mother had fried chicken and baked bread just before she came in so the air carried the scent.
