People really don’t know what they want in life. A typical example: learners want to get done with school only to learn it the hard way, that life out of school is no fun. School life is boring but life without deadlines, classes is equally a yawn too.
It’s even worse now that there is a great gap between me and dad. He is not speaking to me again bcoz the woman moved out (she couldn’t take it anymore). Yesterday (Christmas day) he was not even around; I guess he saw it fit to go enjoy himself with his new family. I got my Christmas wishes from Cape Town, and Tee in Johannesburg and Sebastian in Durban with his family.
Home is not as fun as I had imagined it would be; I think Cape Town would have been better – at least there I have Sim; my nerdy brother with his Shakespeare books. I asked him what he did for Christmas and guess what he told me: “I read Love Labour’s lost by William,” (as if he and Shakespeare are old gym buddies).
Stranger brother I have, whilst children his age are busy chasing skirts he is busy reading about love that existed in the 17th century! I miss him.
I never thought there would come a day where I would be missing Sim – with his out of-context-inquisitiveness. Watching movies with him and he would be asking me questions as if I’ve watched it before him. I guess in his young world elders know everything.
And my personal favourite moments with him are when people start kissing and he’d look down and scratch his head in awkward silence.
I miss Cape Town. I never thought P.E would be this boring. It’s like it has been squeezed off all my life here; and all that remains is an empty shell of what my life here used to be. It’s not the same anymore. P.E is not the same, I’m friend-less, my social life sucks, my father is no longer my father…
“No Zee, you are really making a mountain out of a molehill, things cannot be that bad. Just give it a chance…” Tee said when I told her how boring this side is. She is beginning to be like my parents now and sees the “silver lining” in everything.
