The summer holidays are promising to be a bore. I am already bored up to my wits. I haven’t been so bored for as long as I can remember in my lifetime. There’s just absolutely nothing to do at home and it’s tiring me out.

Today I was so bored I thought I was losing my senses; but thanks to mom, I ended up volunteering in an orphanage home for children. She is doing all in her powers to keep me busy. When she called me, I was not in the mood. I mean who does volunteering work on a Saturday, especially a month-end Saturday. I wished Tee was here.

I even thought to myself: “Oh well! There goes another day, spoiled by mom and her volunteering!”

But it seems true that mothers know best (if you tell her I will deny it) because it was such a nice and memorable day. I met a young boy, Thembekile, “merely, six years old when parents died,” the caretaker told me.

Being around a bunch of kids was fun but the only sad moment came when I had to leave. Thembekile wanted to go with me; and somehow that, got me thinking of the indecent murdering of children that has plagued South Africa recently.

Such horrible things done by human beings! Sies, what happened to their conscious… how do you do that to a child and still be able to live with yourself? What if someone did it to your child or even to you?

Taking care of our future leaders, the children; making sure they are safe and keeping these monsters behind bars, is the best thing we can do for the next generation, especially now that these monsters can’t be lynched. They deserve to be lynched for what they do to the kids! Nx!

All in all, today was a day well spent!
