Libertalia – Foreword
It is said that some of the world’s most notorious pirates sailed the seas of the Indian Ocean, plundering the riches of merchant ships that sailed around the tip of Africa. These ruthless pirates claimed the goods they stole, and a town on the tropical island of Madagascar. Though some debate its existence, it is believed that a pirate James Misson set up the colony with the sailors of his ship, comprising a mixture of nationalities. Their dream: to create a town that allowed any person to be whomever they wanted to be, no matter their birth right or origin. It was a place of free men, free slaves and free thinking. This place – on the island of Madagascar – was called Libertalia.
