In life you need only five things – a few friends, a boy that has committed himself to making you happy, an imperfect perfect mother, at least one pair of hot and expensive shoes, and good food. And there you have it, all in front of you: the best of life’s happiness. Such happiness is the one that not even money can buy. Those are timeless moments; when you having good food accompanied by good conversation.
Mom and Sebs are like old buddies; whenever they are together you’d swear they are mother and son. They sometimes make me feel out of place. I didn’t know that mom could be so cool when she felt like it. I think she has taken a liking of her “future son-in-law,” (her own words). They click so well together – more than me and her, I have to admit. It must be an age thing.
Sebastian is way matured than his age and he is such a philosopher. My mom is a writer so… I on the other hand, am a 19 year old fashion critic. What do I know about life?
Tee, Sally and Allan kept giving me side glances whenever mom and Sebastian were engrossed in good conversation: “What’s going on? Are they always like this together?” their eyes kept asking me.
I guess I should be glad that they actually get along coz me and his mom are like oil and water.
And finally my brother went out (that’s if going to a swimming pool with a friend counts as going out). He found himself a friend, Thabo, he is from P.E too and was visiting his aunt for the holidays. But it seems he won’t be going back, his aunt is trying to find him a school here. And my brother is over the moon about that.
Poor Thabo had to listen to my brother raving on and on about important inventions in science, and to add insult to injury he had to sit and listen to long paragraphs of Shakespearean writings. The poor boy couldn’t stand that one, he was fast asleep and snoring. Do you think Sim cared? No, he read through all that. Being the good sister I am, I scraped the last cents I had and told them to go for a swim. Sim never says no to a swim, it`s a pity we don’t have a swimming pool here.
Ja ne, Prof. Zwane has a friend. It’s a good start of the year. I’m just gonna chill and enjoy the rest of the free time I have before I start classes next week.
Oh God! I’m sorry, I’ve been so caught up in my own little bubble that I forgot to ask, what are your plans for the year?
