The crazy season is upon us and this week Phoebe has some last minute tips to help you relax and distress. We are counting down the hours before Christmas day begins. I have a few tips that you can make use of to make sure that you have everything you need to make your day stress-free and enjoyable.

Tip 1: Lower expectations

Every year, around this time, shops, malls and everyone just gets Christmas craze. So I think that the first thing you need to realise is that not everything you plan on doing will work out as you wish. So instead of over working or over stressing yourself, just take a few minutes to breathe and remember why you are doing all these preparations and for whom. Remember to lower your expectations as not everything will turn out the way you want, but it will all work out for the best.

Tip 2: Gifts

When it comes to planning your gifts, remember to keep things simple and more personal. Don’t buy things just because they are on sale; think about the person you’re buying for, would they even use it and are they going to love it. So make the gift personal, buy something that they will appreciate and not because it was on sale.

Even the wrapping of the gift can be made simple. You don’t need to buy those colourful gift bags in the shop, but you can make your own. Be creative with the wrap because sometimes the gift can be a simple watch or necklace, but because you put so much effort in how you presented the gift, it can be more meaningful to the person receiving it.

Tip 3: Themes

To make your Christmas day special this year, you can do themed parties. So you can ask your friends and family to dress in the colours of your choosing or a theme of your choosing. That can create an excitement that they would not have gotten if it was just the usual ‘come as you are’ party. You can do themes like ‘black & white’ dress code, cocktail evening parties, black tie parties, or even costume parties. So be creative and make sure everyone has the memo as to what to wear for your Christmas party. Trust me when I say it will make it more memorable, years to come and people will still be referring to your awesome dress-up party.

Another thing you can do is have games ready for people to play. Sometimes people treat Christmas as an ordinary day, they eat too much and just laze around. But actually it’s a celebration of family, so why not have fun with it and celebrate. It’s the one day that you actually have an excuse to party, so why not take full advantage of it. Go wild!

Tip 4: Make-up

Keep your make up simple depending on which type of party you will be attending. You don’t want to still be worried about your foundation getting oily or rubbing off while you are trying to have a good time. But at the same time if the party is more formal, then guurrrrl you better make sure your make-up is on point. If you are still struggling with applying make-up, then checkout our previous blog on make-up: Make-Up tutorial for beginners.

Tip 5: Enjoy your day

‘Don’t sweat the small stuff’ as the saying goes, simply enjoy your day even if it turns out the complete opposite of what you wanted.

Merry Christmas to everybody and I hope that you will all have a fantastic, magical and blessed day. And the year ahead be fun-filled and great for you all! #StayTrendi
