First off, I hope you all had a wonderful Africa Day, it was a work day for me, but I made sure I enjoyed it when I got home.

Recently I visited the bank and I was chilling, waiting for my enquiry to be handled, when these two chicks walked in. They had long Brazilian hair, long nails, long lashes, super high heels, tight jeans and really good looking trench coats. Their hair, nails and lashes were all fake. Their make-up was absolutely on point and it was crazy to see because it was raining cats and dogs outside, but then they could have just stepped out of their cars.

They sat down and took out their phones. They were verbally chatting but their conversation was between their phones as they were not making eye contact with each other. My first thought was “I wish I could pull that off.”

I mean don’t get me wrong, I do prefer to be real about myself and not over do it on the fake stuff, but I admired the courage it took for them to walk out of their houses looking the way they did.

I met a friend and I started telling her about the two chicks and I suggested maybe I should try it out and see how that feels. You know what I’m talking about; you get the same feeling when you watch the Kardashians.

But the first thing she said to me was, “If you start pulling off the fake ‘American accent’ then NO.” And I completely get what she said. Which begs the question: Why do black chicks suddenly change their accents the moment they start wearing all things fake?

You’ve seen what I’m talking about.

I don’t have a problem with the black blonde chicks trying out the weaves, fake nails and all other fake beauty stuff. But why do you need to change who you are on the inside? I mean what are you aiming to change, your race?

I have friends who do this and I find it very odd.

I find that their accents and body language change when we are together and when they are with their supposedly social circle, who are into the same things. They have an American accent and their mannerism changes completely.

For example, when we meet for lunch they would also eat their chicken or pizza with their hands. But the moment they are with the same social group, they start eating those things; chicken and pizza, with a fork and knife. So my question is why does being yourself change when you’re covered in fakeness or should you change to go with your new look?

I think that for those black blonde chicks who do what I just described have a self-esteem problem. Because you can only be fake for so long until people start to notice the real you coming out.

I am not saying you need to stop wearing all things fake, because I love them too, but I am saying stay true to who you are and don’t let the fakeness take over your inside too.
