My phone beeped from the bedside drawer.

Let’s rather meet at your place. xoxo Francine.

I knelt down and said a silent prayer to God. He was the best person to help in my situation. Tears started falling down my cheeks, but I wiped them away with my nightdress. I got up and got ready for the day.

I fed my adorable angel and gave her a bath. My first interview with a nanny was at 10 a.m. I was only interviewing two older women that I was impressed with. As I was getting back to the lounge I heard the bell ringing.

A plump woman, who was light in complexion, smiled at me when I opened the door.

“Good morning madam,” she greeted politely. “My name is Namhla and I have come for the interview.”

“You can come in Namhla, or rather Aunt Namhla,” I said, showing her to the lounge.

I don’t know if I was judging a book by its cover, but she looked perfect to be Tasha’s nanny.

“Would you like some coffee or tea?” I offered.

“Tea please, with two sugars,” she answered softly.

I made two cups of Rooibos tea and returned to the lounge. I asked her all the questions I had written down and she answered them so well.

“I’ll give you a call or send a message at the end the day. I really like you and feel that you’re the ideal candidate for my little pumpkin.”

Once Namhla was gone, I waited for the other lady to come, but she didn’t show up. Not even a message to say why she was running late.

An hour later Francine showed up with Nicky. The three of us were close friends at university, but Francine was my childhood friend. She knew me so well.

“I’m so happy to see you girls,” I said happily giving them hugs.

“It’s been ages doll,” said Nicky rushing to the kitchen, “I’m starving.”

“Let’s all go to the kitchen and I’ll make you guys some breakfast, whilst we chat,” offered Francine.

“That’s an awesome idea!” I sighed with relief.

Nicky and I sat on the white chairs, whilst my best friend Francine was busy preparing something for us.

“I can see that something is bothering you my friend,” said Francine. “Tell us what’s going on.”

I touched my forehead and looked down.

“My marriage has always been perfect… well I thought it was perfect,” I laughed at my own words.

“What is Tony doing honey?” asked Nicky looking at me.

“Taj sent me a message saying that he’s having an affair with that manager of mine, Cindy,” I answered sadly.

“Damn that girl!” said Francine angrily. “We need to deal with her soon.”

“It’s too early to confront either of them,” I suggested, “I don’t have any proof yet.”

The smell of bacon filled the air as Francine dished for us. Nicky changed the topic and we started talking about the new guy Francine was dating. She was the strongest person among us. I had so much fun hanging with my friends, until they had to drive back home.

“I’m in Cape Town for two more months, so we should do this often,” said Nicky.

“That will be awesome,” I agreed.

We first took some selfies before they drove off and I walked back into the house.
